Money Changer with High Exchange Rate at Daang-Hari Is Gone

Updated January 9, 2020

Sorry this post is no longer true.

Rustan’s Supermarket at Evia has closed, together with the money changer I talked about and all the other smaller stores that occupied the small stalls inside Rustan’s. As what happened with all non-Villar-owned supermarkets in Villar’s malls, Rustan’s Evia will soon be replaced as extension of Evia’s AllDay Supermarket.

Where are the nearest money changers?

Drive to ATC or Alabang Town Center and go to Czarina, ground floor, near Jollibee and South Park, near the entrance from the Alabang-Zapote parking building.

Or to the money changer inside the Metro Supermarket at ATC. It’s in the area occupied by Bayad Center, Smart and a lotto outlet.

These two money changers give competitive exchange rates.

There’s a money changer along Daang Hari about midway between Alabang Muntinlupa and Molino, Cavite that offers the same, and sometimes, better exchange rate than the popular Czarina. It’s Xchange Forex, located inside the RUSTAN’S Supermarket in VISTA ALABANG Mall (formerly EVIA Lifestyle Center), along Daang-Hari. EVIA has BDO, McDonald’s and Starbucks as its anchors along Daang Hari, and opposite VISTA Mall is a Petron gas station and the Muntinlupa-Cavite Expressway (MCX) rotunda.

I have exchanged my US dollars at this money changer a lot of times, and its exchange rate is the same, or sometimes better by a few cents, than Czarina’s. I get my dollars from a bank near ATC, then go to Czarina inside ATC, but a lot of times, Czarina runs out of dollars (always a lot of people lining up — it’s good they process fast), so I need to look for other money changers nearby.

Also, whenever it’s time to exchange my dollars, I check nailasmoneychanger.com to see its exchange rate. Naila’s rates are usually the same with Czarina’s. Naila’s is along Mabini in the Malate/Ermita area, where money changers are competitive. I think Naila’s is so confident about its exchange rates that it publishes and updates its rates daily or whenever a change occurs. Czarina and the other popular money changer, Sanry’s, don’t publish their rates. Sanry’s doesn’t even have a website or an official Facebook page.

Xchange Forex is located inside RUSTAN’S, to the right of this McDonald’s along Daang Hari, the road that links Alabang, Muntinlupa to Molino, Bacoor, Cavite.

UPDATE  May 27, 2018
1 US dollar = 52.45 Czarina’s (but they ran out of pesos; they told us to wait for maybe an hour)
1 US dollar = 52.40 Foreign exchange section of Metro Supermarket at Alabang Town Center
1 US dollar = 52.60  Eastwest Bank (I’ll try this bank some time)

UPDATE February 22, 2018
Exchange rate was 51.95 pesos = 1 US dollar, at 10 am  at Xchange Forex
Exchange rate was 52 pesos = 1 US dollar, at 3 pm at Czarina’s

UPDATE July 29, 2013:

Contrary to what I said above, Czarina’s US dollar rate was better than Xchange today at 4 PM. Czarina’s US dollar rate was better by 2 Philippine cents. Within a span of 1 hour today, I changed US dollars at Czarina Alabang Town Center and Xchange Forex, and these were the rates:

Czarina:    1 US dollar   =   43.37 pesos
Xchange:  1 US dollar   =   43.35 pesos

UPDATE November 5, 2014:
Xchange had higher rates today

Xchange:  1 US dollar =   44.90 pesos
Czarina:    1 US dollar  =   44.80 pesos

UPDATE: December 26, 2014:
Xchange probably had problems; their exchange rates over the holidays were not good.
Their US-dollar to peso rate fell below 44 pesos while Czarina’s rate hovered around 44.50 pesos.
The Xchange teller said their rates will probably return to normal after the holidays.
