Philippine Banks Closed Down in 2017

The year 2017 was a better year compared to the year 2016 in terms of Philippine bank failures. Only 7 banks were closed down. Six were rural banks and one was a thrift bank.

In 2016, there were 22 banks closed down by the BSP and one voluntarily surrendered its banking license. Of the 22 closed down, 20 were rural banks and 2 were thrift banks.

1.  Countryside Cooperative Rural Bank of Batangas
       – Head Office address at National Road, Brgy. Pallocan Kanluran, Batangas City
       – Had 4 branches:
           – Antorcha St., Balayan, Batangas
           – Poblacion, Padre Garcia, Batangas
           – GF M.B. Perez Business Center, JP Laurel St., Tanauan
           – Palanas, Lemery, Batangas
       – Closed down by the BSP on January 12, 2017
       – Taken over by the PDIC on January 13, 2017

2.  Rural Bank of Barotac Viejo (Iloilo), Inc.
      – Head Office address at Zulueta Drive, Brgy. Poblacion
            Barotac Viejo, Iloilo City
      – Had 2 branches:
           – Virginia Bldg., Brgy. Hechanova, Jaro, Iloilo City
          – Brgy. Poblacion, Concepcion, Iloilo
      – Closed down by the BSP on February 23, 2017
      – Taken over by the PDIC on February 24, 2017

3.  Rural Bank of GOA (Camarines Sur), Inc.
      – Head Office address at San Jose (Poblacion), Goa, Camarines Sur
      – Had one branch located at San Vicente, Pili, Camarines Sur
      – Closed down by the BSP on March 16, 2017
      – Taken over by the PDIC on March 17, 2017

4.  Rural Bank of Ragay (Camarines Sur), Inc.
     – Head Office address at Tomas Delgado St.
         cor. Provincial Road
         Poblacion Ilaod, Ragay, Camarines Sur
    – Had one branch, located at Zone 1, Fatima (Poblacion)
        Del Gallego, Camarines Sur
   – Closed down by the BSP on April 20, 2017
   – Taken over by the PDIC on April 21, 2017

5.  Rural Bank of Iligan City Inc.
     – Office address at No. 0045 Gen. Aguinaldo St.
        Brgy. Poblacion, Iligan City
    – Closed down by the BSP on April 20, 2017
    – Taken over by the PDIC on April 21, 2017


6.  World Partners Bank (A Thrift Bank), Inc.
     – Head office at 74 A. Mabini St., Brgy. Poblacion,
          San Pedro, Laguna
     – Had 4 branches:
        – Bagbaguin, Sta. Maria, Bulacan
        – San Pablo Shopping Mall, San Pablo City
        – HBC Bldg., Calvario, Meycauayan, Bulacan
        – A. Mabini St., Tanauan, Batangas
  – Closed down by the BSP on August 11, 2017
  – Taken over by the PDIC on August 11, 2017

7.  Cabanatuan City Rural Bank, Inc.
      – Head Office address at Liwag Building, P. Burgos Ave.
          Brgy. Padre Burgos (Pob.), Cabanatuan City
      – Had 6 branches:
          Bongabon, Nueva Ecija
          Rizal, Nueva Ecija
          San Antonio, Nueva Ecija
          San Jose City, Nueva Ecija
          Talavera, Nueva Ecija
          Zaragoza, Nueva Ecija
      – Closed down by the BSP on September 28, 2017
      – Taken over by the PDIC on September 29, 2017
