The PDIC reported that it has paid 6.13 billion pesos in deposit insurance claims to Banco Filipino depositors as of August 11, 2011. This represents 79% of BF’s estimated insured deposit of P7.76 billion. Payments have been made to 135,983 deposit accounts or 79% of BF’s 172,323 deposit accounts.
Note: For all bank closures starting March 17, 2011, depositors with deposits amounting to 10,000 pesos or less are excused from filing insurance claims. These depositors will receive their money in the form of Postal Money Orders thru registered mail. They can encash these at post offices or at Land Bank branches.
