For the first 5 months of 2011, OFWs in Brunei sent a total of US$2 million through banks and remittance services tracked by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas. This amount represented an increase of 14.2 percent from the total remittance during the same 5-month period in 2010.

Remittances from Brunei, however, have been dropping since 2004. There was a resurgence in 2008, but the $10.47 million total remittance in 2003 was never again duplicated or surpassed.
