  4. About opening a BDO OFW account, yes, you can apply for a Kabayan account at some of these remittance partners. Ask them. About weekend opening, it's most likely that many are open on weekends because they know that OFWs work during the week.

    1. I opened an ofw saving account here in Taiwan (bdo) through Gold star, but until now they have not given me anything about what I've open. How long it will take? Its been 1 and a half month already. When will I get my account? I always ask the agent but she kept on saying that I have to wait for the message of bdo in my cp number. Thanks. Hoping for your soonest reply. Godbless

  5. Where can I update my kabayan peso savings passbook here in taiwan?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Updating BDO Kabayan Peso Savings Passbook in Taiwan:
Sad to say, you cannot have your passbook updated in Taiwan because there's no BDO branch in Taiwan. You can have your passbook updated only at a BDO branch in the Philippines.
If your atm card has a Mastercard or Visa logo, you can make a balance inquiry at a machine displaying the same logo as yours (Mastercard or Visa).

    1. About maximum outward remittance from Taiwan or inward remittance to Taiwan: For individuals, the maximum outward remittance is US$5 million per year per person.
Each remittance company has its own maximum remittance limit per transaction. Western Union's maximum per transaction is US$15,000. Bank wire transfers have no maximum limits per transaction.

  7. Hello nora tamba. Can i use my bdo kabayan remittance as a savings account? And how much is the maximum money to put in the kabayan account?? Thank you hope you answer my question

    ReplyDelete
  8. Hi Daren Dalisay, yes, you can use Kabayan as your savings account. Kabayan is actually a savings account. When your Kabayan account no longer receives a foreign remittance, it becomes a regular passbook savings account, and will require a 10,000-peso maintaining balance.
You can put as much money as you want in your Kabayan. There's no maximum limit. Of course, when you've saved half a million or one million, it will be better to transfer some to a time deposit to get a bigger interest rate.

    1. Withdrawal using passbook:
Sorry no. If passbook is used, you should be the one withdrawing.
Your family member can withdraw only if you have given them a BDO withdrawal slip with your signature and the signature of your Authorized Representative.

  10. Hi good day mam. Thank you for your reply. One more question? Can i use my atm card to check the balance of my bdo asenso kabayan as my savings account here in Taiwan.?

    1. Hi Daren:
Does your atm card has a Mastercard logo? Did you change your ATM PIN at a BDO atm machine here in the Philippines? If yes, you can use your card to make a balance inquiry at an atm there that displays a Mastercard logo. Balance inquiry fee is 1 US dollar.

    1. About remittance to BDO Kabayan and withdrawal:
Yes, they can withdraw over the counter using their passbook. They fill up the withdrawal slip. Sometimes their IDs are required by the teller.
They can also withdraw from any BDO machine using their atm card.

    1. about status of BDO savings account:
By BDO's policy, your account should still be active, as the 12-month period for at least one remittance is not yet over. But to be sure, ask someone in the Philippines to deposit 100 or 200 pesos to your account over the counter. If the deposit is accepted, it means your account is active.

    2. Later on, enroll your account in BDO online banking. Enroll a mobile phone no. that can accept calls/texts from the Philippines. Enroll in BDO online banking while abroad

  15. Kabayan reactivation May 23, 2016
hi mrs nora, Can I reactivate my kabayan savings account? It's almost one year this July 216 that I have not deposited. I opened it July 2015. What should I do to reactivate if it's already closed?
    ANSWER:
If we count 12 months from opening, your Kabayan should still be active. Did BDO tell you it's already closed? If it's already closed, sorry you're not allowed to reactivate it. You can open another account. You can try asking here: BDO Contact Page. You can also see BDO phone nos. on this page.

    1. Hi william, just bring your passport and another ID, 2 ID pictures, your OEC or any proof you're going to work abroad plus 100 pesos. After you get your atm card and activate it, immediately enroll your account online. Activate your online banking enrollment also through a BDO atm. Enroll a mobile phone no. that you're planning to use with international roaming, or that you plan to use abroad. BDO uses one-time-password (sent through texts) for online money transfers. But you can use challenge questions for login (not OTP) if your plan is to check your balance inquiry only. So remember your answers to your challenge questions when you open your account.

    1. Hi arbeboy: Tiningnan ko sa Google Map at ito ang pinakamalapit sa iyo na BDO partner: Pinoy Express Huan Feihei Trading Co. Ltd. 143 Chien Kou 4th Rd Kaohsiung City. Sabi it's 1 and 18 mins daw by train or by bus. Kung mahal ang fares diyan, at merong Moneygram diyan mismo sa Tainan, diyan ka na lang sa Moneygram. Puede mo namang tanungin ang rate nila bago ka magpadala.
Sa England, around 600 pesos yong Moneygram remittance fee for 12k pesos na padala for Cash pickup at any Moneygram outlet here in the Phils.

    2. Yes, Moneygram is a partner of BDO, so puedeng deposit to BDO account.

  26. Hi Lalaine Dastas: Sorry you cannot change your default PIN there in Taiwan because there's no BDO atm there. This means you cannot use your atm card there yet. You must first activate your card here in the Philippines, when you take your vacation.
But your Kabayan account is already active. You can send money to it and save. Use a BDO remittance partner-- see above list. Then use this
BDO Remit Status Inquiry to track your remittance. Or call BDO: International Access Code-800-8-6318000 or 00-800-8-631-8000 or 00-632 631 8000

    1. Hi Sweetjoy: Sorry I missed your question. Kelangan din kasi ang one-time password (OTP) which is sent via text to complete login.
About your atm card na hindi maka-balance inquiry, tingnan mo nga kung merong Mastercard logo yang atm machine. You can also call BDO: International Access Code-800-8-6318000 or 00-800-8-631-8000 or 00-632 631 8000

  30. Hi mam.. Can I ask if it's OK that the savings account number in passbook is different from atm number? It's my first time to have an account with passbook and atm.. Thanks..

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Account No. and card No.: Yes, they are not the same. When you send money, you use your account number (number on the passbook - 12 digits if with 00).
Your atm card number (16 digits) is just a number to track your atm card (if no Mastercard logo). But that 16-digit number becomes very important if your atm card has a Mastercard logo, an expiry date and a 3-digit number at the back -- keep your atm card secure and safe because it can be used to buy products on the Internet.

    1. Hi Jam: I replied to you at Google+.

    1. Hi Verbz: What they meant was you activate your atm card in the Philippines when you take your vacation.
But your account is already active, meaning you can now send money to your account. Use BDO remittance partners in Taiwan so you can use the BDO Remit Status Inquiry. Your account number is the one inside your passbook, near your name.
